"Where there is poverty and joy, there is
neither greed nor avarice."
St. Francis of Assisi
The tagline of St. Francis High School is "A Community in which Minds and Spirits Thrive" and that message permeates throughout the school on a daily basis.  A spirit of welcome, coupled with rigorous academics and faith-based character development makes St. Francis High School an excellent choice when choosing a high school.
The Admissions team and I encourage your son or daughter to visit St. Francis for a Shadow Day, taking place on select days this fall through spring.  We are also hosting Fall Open House taking place Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. and Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. Please refer to our website, for more information.  Come see everything St. Francis High School has to offer!

"I am St. Francis"
Senior Katherine Kubik is no stranger to hard work whether that is in the classroom or participating in a myriad of activities.  She was recently named a National Merit Semifinalist, representing less than one percent of the 1.6 million juniors who entered the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the fall 2015 PSAT exam as a junior.  As a graduate of St. John the Baptist, she credits a smooth transition from grade school to high school due to her desire to get involved early.  "I joined the Math Team right away and eventually joined the Arts and Crafts Club, Scholastic Bowl, National Honor Society, and also participate in track and field."  When asked what she loves about St. Francis, she credits the supportive community and helpful teachers.

As a junior high student at St. Michael School, Greg Bogdanski knew St. Francis was a great fit because "I shadowed, saw what the environment was like, and loved it."  Now a senior, Bogdanski is in fact "thriving."  He was recently named Wintrust Athlete of the Week for his role as leader and linebacker on the Spartan football team and also participates in National Honor Society, is a Liturgical Minister, and is on the basketball team.  Bogdanski especially likes the quality of educators at St. Francis.  "They all know what they are talking about and look out for us (the students).  Teachers are available before and after school and are here for you to talk to.  I recently spoke with Mr. Lynch (business teacher) and asked him questions about the stock market."
Congratulations Katherine and Greg on your many achievements!

Microsoft Surface Pro 3

The device does matter and the Microsoft Surface Pro is designed for the classroom.  According to Director of Technology, Jeff Gerdeman '87, "The programs and devices mirror our students.  Our students are extremely intelligent and beyond that they are also athletic and talented with the arts and these devices are just as flexible as they are."  The Surface Pros are in the hands of every student and meet the needs of both students and educators with the SP3's ability to run apps and the full Microsoft Office suite, inclusion of pen stylus, great keyboard, integration to the Cloud and all day battery life.

President Tom Bednar states students are, "using the right instrument as it helps them achieve, become more engaged, and more organized in their work in the classroom."  One tool that allows for better organization is the OneNote note management system.  Rather than having multiple binders with papers to organize, OneNote allows students to take notes wherever they go.  Students may take notes in many ways such as typing, writing, drawing, speaking, and so on.  It also allows students to convert handwritten notes to text.  For these reasons and many others are why students often refer to the Microsoft Surface Pro as, "sweet, making my life easier, and awesome!"
