St. Francis of Assisi
Welcome
St. Francis of Assisi is often remembered for his love for animals and nature.  At St. Francis High School, we also remember St. Francis of Assisi for his generosity to the poor and spirit of welcome, especially as we celebrate the Feast of St. Francis which takes place on October 4 each year.  That spirit of welcome, coupled with rigorous, college preparatory academics and faith-based character development makes St. Francis an excellent choice when selecting a high school.

The Admissions team encourages your son or daughter to visit St. Francis High School for a Shadow Day, taking place on select days this fall through spring.  Please visit www.sfhscollegeprep.org/shadow to register.

Please join us for our Fall Open House to be held on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. and Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.

Parents of prospective students are invited to Tuesday Tours, in which coffee will be served and a tour of St. Francis High School will be given by the Director of Admissions.  Please call (630) 668-5800, x1120 to reserve your space.

"I am St. Francis"
Performing and Visual Arts Department Chair and Co-Director of Activities Bob Mamminga was at a career crossroads as a young man.  Although he had an opportunity to join his family's insurance business, he became "invested" in Secondary Education and is now serving in his 13th year at St. Francis High School.  Mamminga has certainly made the investment in St. Francis High School and his growing Performing Visual Arts Department is proof of that.  Mamminga states, "When I started there were 10 kids in the band.  There were no drummers, no equipment; students brought their own instruments."

As time went on Mamminga became inspired by the ability to make a difference in people's lives.  Mamminga's spirit, enthusiasm and dedication to the arts did not go unnoticed.  Over time, the band continued to grow and now is over 100 students strong.  Mamminga says, "I know and care about each student.  They are never just a number here and because of the school size, I know everyone on the first day of school.  I love the community.  It's a great place.  I would send my kids here and plan on staying a long time."  Thanks for everything you do and your "investment" into St. Francis High School, Mr. Mamminga!

Only at St. Francis High School

Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, "The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.  Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."  St. Francis High School embraces a uniquely supportive learning environment that cultivates character development along with intellectual growth by offering a well-rounded competitive honors and A.P. (Advanced Placement) curriculum.

With 13 A.P. offerings in addition to 20 other honors courses, St. Francis High School graduates are prepared for education at the next level.  The top 50% of students from the Class of 2016 earned an average score of 31 on the ACT, which reflects that students have been provided a solid foundation in core subject material.  According to Assistant Principal Cindy Johnson, for the past decade "50% of students are earning a 4 or 5 on the Advanced Placement tests which correlates to earning college credit."  The coursework is demanding and classes are challenging and constantly evolving to meet the needs of the times.

According to Director of Guidance Trudy Rigney, our students typically exceed the requirements colleges are asking for.  Graduates are getting into over 80% of the colleges they apply to and we often hear from St. Francis alumni how well prepared they are. Rigney states, "We want all of our students to be successful and will provide a great education; students will be challenged and get into top colleges such as Northwestern, University of Notre Dame, Vanderbilt University, Washington University, and Johns Hopkins University."
