St. Francis of Assisi

Incoming Freshmen, the St. Francis community welcomes you with great joy!
We gather as a class on Sunday, February 26 at 10:00 a.m. for Mass and Academic Registration. This beautiful event illustrates SFHS's care for mind and spirit. We begin our academic success by receiving God's graces in mass, then go forth to register for freshman classes and placement tests. If you need an Admissions meeting or wish to inquire about next steps, you may contact me directly or visit our Admissions tab on the St. Francis website at
Our many 7th grade visitors are learning about high school as they shadow St. Francis Student Hosts. To schedule your child's full or partial Shadow Day, call me to discuss the details at (630) 668-5800 x1120. I also welcome parents of incoming freshmen, transfer students, and middle school students for coffee and a tour of St. Francis High School. Tuesday Tours are 9:00-10:00 a.m. or any convenient time.
See you on February 26th, Class of 2021!

"I Am St. Francis"
The Alumni Perspective: 4 Questions for Distinguished Alumni Lynn Mirabella '80 and
Bill Cashin '65

Appreciating St. Francis with Lynn Mirabella '80
Lynn is an accomplished Family Law Attorney at MKFM Law, Mirabella, Kincaid, Frederick & Mirabella (in Wheaton & St. Charles) who has received multiple awards and recognition. Her three daughters also have attended SFHS.

1.  How did SFHS prepare you for your university studies and career?
The teachers are some of the best. I was an English and Pre-Law major in college and had a solid foundation from St. Francis. There is a focus on writing, vocabulary and grammar.

2.  What activities were you involved in during your time at SFHS?
National Honor Society, Chorus, Yearbook, Latin Districts. My favorite memories were especially from Pom Pons. Also Homecoming and making the floats at my house.  We recently had our 35th year reunion, and classmates traveled from as far as Florida and Texas - it speaks to the community that is St. Francis.

3.  What does SFHS mean to you as a parent? (Lynn and her husband, Greg Philiotis, have three daughters, Lauren '09, Kimberly '15, and Kristen '17)
I love the fact that God is talked about and that the messages instilled at home are echoed at school.  We work out for our bodies, we read a lot and prepare for our work, but sometimes it's easy to overlook the soul.  There are great role models for my children at St. Francis.

4.  What is one word you would use to describe your feeling toward St. Francis?

Appreciating St. Francis with Bill Cashin '65
Bill is a treasured teacher of 45 years at St. Michael School in Wheaton (his alma mater), where he instructs preschoolers through eighth graders in physical education and gentle life lessons. In 2002, St. Michael dedicated the school gym to Bill and renamed it "Cashin Gym" in his honor.

1.  How did SFHS prepare you for your university studies and career?

The educators were very good and dedicated themselves.  If it weren't for Brother Basel, I'd still be in high school. My senior homeroom teacher, Brother Terrance, was great. I have many fond memories of him. He was always reading a book, never raised his voice, and was a brilliant man and good soul.

2.  What is your favorite memory during your time at SFHS?

I always looked forward to going to games and made a lot of good friends.  When I go back to SFHS, I enjoy seeing all the new improvements, such as the library and science rooms.  It's one of the cleanest schools, and people take pride in this school.

3.  What activities/clubs/athletics were you involved in?

Pep Club, Homecoming Committee, Intramurals, but I also worked.  After school I would get a ride home, then swept the floor and did other maintenance tasks at St. Mike's to help pay for my education at St. Francis.

4.  What is one word you would use to describe your feeling toward St. Francis?
